Springtime

Springtime in Nome is different than most places. We do not see the snow melting or birds chirping. We have a much different experience. The sun is out from about 9 am to 10 pm. The sun is hot and can make a 10 degree day feel over 30. It is amazing! We are lucky to see beautiful sunsets and sunrises. They seem to last a little longer here than most places. Zeb and I had a chance to go out halibut fishing during spring break. While we did not catch the "big one" we got a few and it was fun. It was worth the trip to see Homer, a place I hadn't been yet. Alaska is so HUGE, there are so many places to visit. Hopefully some more family members want to venture this way someday! There is a lot to see.

I will be posting another update soon. Today is the start of the All Alaska Sweepstakes. A race that was very big here from 1908-1917. The last one was 1983 as a centennial and today is the 25th anniversary. We will be taking a field trip to check it out.
